#13 Princess Haley had the North Carolina side off balance all game
Haley Moves Premier To Finals
Dallas Premier F Princess Haley must have had something to prove to someone , somewhere or maybe she just wanted to show people how she went about her record setting season at Florida Southern, but whatever it was that got into the second year Premier Forward she did it all on Sunday against a very good North Carolina side at the USASA region III tournament in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Haley scored her second goal in as many days on a cross from MF Mikaela Arredondo. As hard as Haley hit the ball, the North Carolina goalie had to be glad it hit the underneath part of the crossbar and not her hands. Following the previous days script and just minutes later Arredondo found the back of the net on a back post cross by MF Kelsey Perlman (North Texas) giving the Premier a 2-0 lead just 7 minutes into the game. You have to give the NC side credit though because they fought hard the entire game and held the Premier to just one more goal which came late in the second half by Baylor Hall of Famer Ginny Rosario-Hall to seal the win for the Premier. MF Chloe Adams set up the goal with a corner kick that Rosario-Hall headed neatly into the net leaving the NC goalie standing in her tracks. For the second game in a row all the Dallas goals were scored by different players in the 3-1 win that moved them into Mondays final at 9:30 am.
The NC side found a crack in the Premier defense on a similar corner kick that was headed past GK Maegan Wilson. The goal made the score 2-1 with over 20 minutes left in a game that the Premier had control of , but the North Carolina side seem to be saying we aren't going away. Rosario-Hall's goal took their momentum and last chance away. "You came out in the right frame of mind and your energy was good to start the game, and you jumped on them with a couple of goals in the first 7 minutes," head Coach Brian Flanagan told his players after the game," but your biggest enemy is going to be complacency. You are going to have to learn to not become complacent. You beat a good side and so you own the hotel." Flanagan said. Both teams were staying at the same hotel and crossed paths several times before taking the pitch against one another.
North Carolina had defeated the Georgia Cougar team earlier in the day 2-0. South Texas Challengers will be the Premier's opponent in the finals after having defeated the Louisiana Mudbugs 6-0 and ASC, from south Texas also, in their second game. |
