Premier Cleans Up 2-1            

                             

The Dallas Premier claimed the USASA Region III Title against South Texas Challengers 2-1 on a muddy rain soaked pitch Memorial day morning. GK Haley Corbell provided the difference when she stopped a PK right before the half keeping the scored tied at 1-1. 15 minutes into the second half F Missy Stovall netted her second game winner of the tournament when “Bullet” Carter long ball in was back flicked to Stovall by F Heather Hutyra. 15 minutes into the first half MF Kelsey Perlman was taken down in the box and awarded a PK which she calmly netted left footed by the Challenger goalie. After the Challengers tied the score 1-1, they found another opportunity to score and take the lead when the Challenger forward slipped in behind the Premier Defensive line. Alicia Marshall’s hard tackle on the all alone and about to score Challenger forward gave Corbell the chance for a PK stop and Corbell didn’t disappoint, diving far to her right, the 5’10” Corbell used every inch of her slender frame and batted the ball away from the goal for the save giving the Premier the boost right before half. Sloppy play was the name of the game and dirty play took on a whole new meaning as the mud slowed the Premier’s normal speed and quick tactics. “ You r character allow you to win today when you didn’t play your best, but that’s good especially in a game like this,” said Head Coach Brian Flanagan to the players after the game.
