Corbell Saves 1-0 Win Against Panthers
Team Turns Focus to U-23, Open Cup Nationals
The Dallas Premier went to Ft Worth to face rival Ft Worth Panthers Saturday night knowing their hopes of a WPSL Championship were officially over. The Panthers also had been eliminated. It didn’t seem to matter to either team. Both went after each other with the Premier coming out on top 1-0 after a fabulous goal in the 10th minute by F Heather Hutyra. Hutyra volleyed a beautiful cross from Kelsey Perlman in the top part of the net with a Panther defender all over her. It may have been one of the nicer goals scored all season by the Premier. The goal culminated 10 minutes of some of the best soccer the Premier has played in a while. Thanks to Corbell and the season long tough Premier defense. the goal would stand up for a win. Corbell repelled everything that was headed into the goal and what she couldn’t get to the cross bars did.
The Panthers hit the crossbars at least 3 times on the night and continued to test the Premier defense most of the night. The Premier, as usual, had excellent opportunities to expand the lead but just as things have gone most of the season, the ball failed to find the net. But with Corbell and the Premier defensive line, one was enough.
The Premier changes its focus and concentrates on their attempts to defend its USASA U23 National Championship and the USASA Women’s Open National Championship. |
